What's On

Alice Springs Beanie Festival

23 - 26 June 2017

Truly a feast for the senses, the 4-day festival has something for everyone. The opening night brings a carnival atmosphere to the Araluen Arts Centre, blending music, dance, food and art. Throughout the weekend, workshops share the creativity and diversity of textile arts and crafts, while crowds enjoy the thrill of the beanie chase to find the perfect beanie (or three!).

Since 1997, the Alice Springs Beanie Festival has been creating opportunities for Indigenous women from remote communities to develop their talents and share their designs and stories. At the festival, warm your soul with cross-cultural experiences like weaving workshops, eating kangaroo tail or just having a yarn

Apex Camel Cup

8 July 2017

The quirky, annual Apex Camel Cup attracts visitors to Alice Springs from all over the world.

While camels may have a reputation as dedicated 'ships of the desert', these magnificent beasts are certainly not short on personality. Racing them can prove a nightmare for riders and handlers but fantastic viewing for spectators. Entertainment is assured, with nine unique races scheduled around the dusty outback track throughout the day.

There will be lots of action between races, too. Belly dancers, rickshaw races, 'Kids Kamel Kapers' hobby camel races, rides, Mr and Miss Camel Cup challenges, food stalls and bars will add to the carnival atmosphere.

Henley On Todd Regatta

19 August 2017

56th Annual Henley-On-Todd Regatta

“The Territory’s longest running iconic event!"

Join in, have fun, or just enjoy the hilarity from under the shade of gum trees on the edge of the dry Todd River bed, and help raise funds for charity.

Everyone is invited to attend and enter events! You could make your own boat and even join in the Grand Parade!
