Ensure your passport is valid
Seems straigtforward, however it's not as simple as it sounds. All guests require a passport for international travel, regardless of your destination. However you must also check your passport is valid for at least six months, as some countries require passports to be valid for a certain length of time beyond your visit. If you have not already applied for your passport, arrange this well in advance of your departure date, you don't want to be left behind on your family holiday.
You also must ensure that your passport is in good condition. If your Australian passport has some damage visit the Australian Passport Office’s website here for more information about whether it can still be used. Note: normal wear and tear should not be a problem, but more serious damage can stop you from travelling. If you are travelling on a foreign passport, please contact your local consular office for guidance.
Virgin Australia ground crew will require you to show all relevant travel documents at check-in. Guests are solely responsible for obtaining all travel documents and for complying with all laws, regulations, orders and travel requirements of countries to be flown from, into or over. The airline may refuse to carry you if we reasonably believe you will be refused entry to the destination country. For general information on passports and visas please visit your countries Foreign Affairs or State Department website.
