Booking conditions
General Information
- Travel packages are limited and subject to availability.
- All prices are in Australian dollars, inclusive of Australian Goods and Services Tax (GST) calculated at the current rate of 10% (subject to change).
- When entering passenger names on the AFL Travel website, please ensure the spelling of names matches the individual’s passport, driver's licence or photo identification.
- In relation to bookings where more than one passenger is travelling, the person making the reservation on behalf of their travelling companions will be deemed to have accepted the Booking Conditions on behalf of all of their travelling companions. The person making the booking agrees to comply with the Booking Conditions and agrees to ensure that all travelling companions will also comply.
- The match fixture is current as at January 2025. The Australian Football League (AFL) reserves the right in its absolute discretion to change or amend the match fixture at any time, without notice.
- A maximum of one package can be purchased online per transaction. Please contact us if you would like to book more than one package, or purchase packages in separate online transactions.
- Unless detailed otherwise, AFL Travel packages do not include meals, hotel transfers, travel insurance or any item not detailed in Package Inclusions.
- In relation to bookings which include a child under the age of 18, please note that the parent/guardian is at all times responsible for their children.
- You acknowledge and agree that all personal details will be collected, used and disclosed in accordance with AFL Travel Privacy Policy. You understand that AFL Travel also collects personal information on behalf of the AFL and you have read and agree to the terms of the AFL Privacy Policy.
Hotel Information
- All package prices are based on room only rates at each hotel i.e. meals are not included unless indicated otherwise.
- Unless indicated otherwise, hotel, studio and one-bedroom rates are based on either one (single) or two (double/twin) persons sharing existing bedding. Two-bedroom rates, where applicable, are based on either three (triple) or four (quad) persons sharing existing bedding. Additional rates apply to extra persons and/or extra beds.
- The AFL Travel rating of accommodation is based on various factors that are generally accepted as indicative of a certain class however, AFL Travel does not guarantee the accommodation standard, class, fitness for purpose or service levels. A basic guide to hotel categories:
- Budget: basic accommodation with limited range of facilities.
- Standard: comfortable accommodation, good range of facilities and furnishings.
- Superior: well-appointed accommodation, high standard of facilities, room amenities and guest services.
- First Class: high standard of accommodation, extensive facilities, room amenities and guest services.
- Deluxe: luxury accommodation, exceptional standard of facilities, room amenities and guest services.
- As a general guide, check-in time at most hotels is 3:00pm, rooms may not be ready to check-in if you arrive before this time. Check-out time at hotels is usually 10:00am however, this does vary. Rooms still occupied after the hotel’s check-out time may incur additional charges that can be confirmed upon request.
- Hotel information on the AFL Travel website including accommodation descriptions, facilities and distances have been provided by the individual hotels and are subject to change without notice. Hotel photographs are representative only and actual rooms may vary from those shown.
- As detailed in Terms of Payment and Cancellations (below), all payments are non-refundable, however name changes for Virgin Australia bookings will be permitted up to seven (7) days prior to travel subject to a $50 per name change fee, per flight sector. For the avoidance of doubt, a return flight constitutes two (2) flight sectors.
- If you fail to check in and/or board your flight, this will result in a loss of your fare and any related fees.
- If Virgin Australia needs to change or cancel a flight and the new flight time is not suitable, you can request a credit or a refund of the total fare. If the flight is delayed, rescheduled or cancelled due to factors within Virgin Australia’s control, you may also be entitled to compensation in accordance with Virgin Australia’s Guest Compensation Policy and any applicable laws (including under the Australian Consumer Law).
- You will be entitled to 23kg of checked baggage per person and 7kg carry on. Excess baggage fees will apply for additional pieces purchased at the airport.
- Seat requests, upgrade requests and points bookings are not available for bookings made via AFL Travel. AFL Travel and Virgin Australia will assign your seats in advance of airline ticketing.
Virgin Australia Information
Virgin Australia will always do their best to get you to your destination on time. However, the nature of flying is inherently unpredictable. Sometimes Virgin Australia will need to delay or cancel flights due to natural disasters, bad weather, technical and other issues. At all times, your safety is Virgin Australia’s number one priority. For these reasons, to the extent permitted by law, Virgin Australia do not guarantee flight times and schedules, and they do not form part of your contract with AFL Travel.
Flights included in the AFL Travel packages are subject to specific Booking Conditions as outlined below:
Match Ticket Information
- AFL Travel is authorised by the AFL to sell and/or distribute AFL match tickets.
- AFL Travel packages are sold subject to AFL Ticket and Entry Conditions and the venue conditions of entry. If you have not received these conditions, please contact AFL Travel to request a copy.
- AFL match tickets, including those purchased as part of AFL Travel packages, may not, without prior written authorisation of the AFL, be re-sold at a premium or used for advertising, promotion or other commercial purposes (including competitions or trade promotions), or to enhance the demand for other goods or services, either by the original purchaser or any subsequent bearer. If the ticket is sold in breach of these conditions, the ticket will be void and will not entitle the holder to admission to the event.
- After purchase except as set out in these Booking Conditions or the AFL Ticket and Entry Conditions, ticket cannot be refunded or exchanged under any circumstance. We strongly recommend you record details of your AFL Travel ticket/s in case the AFL match tickets are misplaced or lost.
Lost Tickets
If a ticket(s) has been lost, they will only be reprinted with authorisation from the AFL Travel ticketholder. A request to reprint a ticket must be addressed to info@afltravel.com.au as soon as possible. Once tickets are reissued, there will be no circumstance in which the original ticket(s) will be admitted to the event.
Wheelchair and Carer Position or Accessible Seating
If a wheelchair and carer position, or accessible seating is required for any event, the purchaser must advise at the time of purchase of the AFL Premium package. Wheelchair and carer spaces are limited and will be subject to availability.
Ticket Fulfilment
Following full payment, you will receive further information via email regarding your AFL Travel package, including ticketing fulfilment and any relevant event information, in the lead up to your selected event. Tickets for the event/s will be electronic, issued a minimum of three (3) business days prior to your event, to the booking contact nominated at the time of booking, on behalf of all guests within the booking. No tickets will be provided without all necessary contact details of the purchaser and any information required for other travellers.
Terms of Payment and Cancellation
Payment in full is required at the time of booking. Up to 15 days prior to the event, credit card / debit card, BPAY or Direct Deposit payments are accepted. For bookings made within 14 days of the event, only credit card payments are accepted. See Methods of Payment below.
Subject to Australian Consumer Law (www.consumerlaw.gov.au), all payments made are non-refundable. Comprehensive travel insurance is strongly recommended.
Postage and Handling
All package prices include postage and handling within Australia where applicable. Postage outside of Australia will incur additional cost.
Methods of Payment
All payments must be made in Australian dollars, payment in any other currency will not be accepted.
- Credit Card / Debit Card: AFL Travel accepts credit card / debit card payments, subject to the following fees: Visa, MasterCard 1.62% of the amount payable, American Express 2.3% of the amount payable. This fee will be added to the amount due as detailed on your invoice.
Please note:
- The American Express fee is non-refundable except where you are entitled to a refund under the Australian Consumer Law.
- The credit card used to pay for the booking must belong to the person in whose name the booking is held.
- The name in which the booking is held must be an exact match to the cardholder name.
- The cardholder must be attending the event as a participant in the booking and have the credit card used to pay for the booking with them.
- If these credit card payment terms are not met your booking will be cancelled.
- BPAY: The AFL Travel Biller Code and your individual BPAY payment reference number will appear on your invoice. A BPAY fee of $1.15 applies.
- Direct Deposit: AFL Travel bank account details will be listed on your invoice. AFL Travel is not liable for remitting bank fees, please make any arrangements necessary to cover such fees.
- Crypto.com: AFL Travel accepts crypto.com payments, subject to the following fee: 1.01% of the amount payable. This fee will be added to the amount due as detailed on your invoice.
- Due to an increase in fraudulent activity, please note the following:
- Requests for the refund of overpayments via BPAY and Direct Deposit will take up to 30 business days. Requests will not be processed until the recipient has been adequately identified.
- Requests for a refund to be credited to a bank account, other than that used for the payment in question, will require a Statutory Declaration.
Consumer Protection
General Travel Group Pty Ltd, trades under licence from the AFL as AFL Travel. All AFL Travel clients are protected under Australian Consumer Law; for further details click here to visit the ACCC website.
Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures with the service, you are entitled:
- to cancel your service contract with us; and
- to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value.
You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. If the failure does not amount to a major failure you are entitled to have problems with the service rectified in a reasonable time and, if this is not done, to cancel your contract and obtain a refund for the unused portion of the contract.
Agreement
These Booking Terms and Conditions (effective January 2025) supersede any previous version published by AFL Travel. In making this booking and/or amendments thereto, you agree to be bound by the Booking Terms and Conditions. Any prior arrangements, agreements, representations or undertakings are superseded.
Law of Contract
These Booking Conditions are governed by the laws of Victoria and any action arising under them or in any way connected with the travel arrangements may be bought only in a court in Victoria, subject to any law which is expressly inconsistent with this.
AFL Travel Conditions of Responsibility
General Travel Group Pty Ltd trading as AFL Travel ABN 85 003 133 551 and AFL give their notice that all final travel documentation, tickets and coupons issued by them, or on their behalf, and all arrangements for flights, hotel accommodation, functions, match tickets, transport and conveyance are made by them as agents or operators upon the express conditions that they are not liable for any personal injury, death, damage, loss, accident, delay or sickness in carrying out the arrangements of the tour(s), or through the acts or defaults of any passenger or otherwise in connection with any of the hotels or proprietor or servant for any failures on the part of the hotel or provider or servant, to the extent permitted by law.
AFL Travel gives notice that should any damage be caused by a passenger to the property, contents or grounds of the hotel accommodation, or to the property of a third party supplier, in carrying out the arrangements of the tours, the cost of repairing any damage caused by the passenger will be the responsibility of the passenger and must be paid by the passenger to the hotel and/or third party supplier forthwith.
AFL Travel gives notice that the passenger(s) shall at all times be liable, without limitation, for any statement or conduct that (in AFL Travel’s absolute discretion) is defamatory, racist, disorderly, offensive, likely to cause or stir any threatening behaviour or may bring AFL Travel and/or the name, AFL Travel into disrepute.
AFL Travel accepts no responsibility for loss or additional expenses that may be incurred for any delays or changes in transportation, or any other services, sickness, personal injury, weather, strikes, pandemics, lockouts, war, terrorism, earthquake, floods, volcanic eruption, or any other causes. Should there be any disruptions or delays it will be the responsibility of the passenger to contact AFL Travel.
The liability of AFL Travel and the AFL is limited, where it is liable, to refunding the price of the service or product.
AFL Travel is operated by General Travel Group Pty Ltd (ABN: 85 003 133 551). General Travel Group Pty Ltd is an independent contractor to and not an agent of the AFL.
